U.S. Detains Four Over Alleged Terror Plot in LA
Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed that the Justice Department and FBI had intercepted what she described as a dangerous threat in the Central District of California, encompassing Los Angeles and Orange County.
Writing on X, Bondi accused the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF) of "preparing to conduct a series of bombings against multiple targets in California beginning on New Year's Eve." She further claimed the organization intended to strike Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and their vehicles.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the agency "disrupted a credible, imminent terrorist threat" through the apprehension of four suspects in the Los Angeles region.
Patel stated the accused were "planning coordinated IED bombing attacks on New Year's Eve, targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles."
A fifth suspect was detained in New Orleans for alleged involvement in an unrelated scheme, Patel added.
The TILF, which maintains a modest online presence, identifies itself on Facebook as a political entity championing the "Liberation of occupied Turtle Island and liberation of all colonized peoples across the world."
Members connected to the organization have previously mobilized opposition to detention and deportation operations conducted by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), alongside other anti-colonial activism. Law enforcement has not released corroborating evidence for the accusations or named the purported targets. TILF has yet to issue a statement regarding the detentions.
The operation unfolds as the Trump administration intensifies enforcement actions against leftist organizations.
