Iran Negotiating with U.S., Trump Says

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump disclosed Saturday that Tehran has entered into substantive negotiations with Washington, expressing optimism that diplomatic efforts could yield an agreement both nations find acceptable.

Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump revealed that American naval forces are currently en route toward the region while simultaneously confirming ongoing dialogue with Iranian officials.

"Certainly, I can't tell you that, but we do have very big, powerful ships heading in that direction. I hope they negotiate something that's acceptable," Trump stated when pressed about whether he'd reached a definitive stance on Iran.

The president acknowledged uncertainty surrounding the diplomatic outcome while emphasizing the gravity of current discussions between the two nations.

"Some people think that some people don't make a negotiated deal that would be satisfactory with no nuclear weapons, and said they should do that, but I don't know that they will. But they are talking to us, seriously talking to us," he added.

Trump's remarks indicate a potential shift in US-Iran relations, though the president stopped short of confirming any concrete timeline or specific terms under consideration. The deployment of military assets alongside diplomatic engagement suggests Washington is pursuing a dual-track approach combining pressure with negotiation.
