Resurfacing Work Scheduled on U.S. Route 61 Outer Roads in Lincoln County

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, as early as August 14, a resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on eight disconnected sections of U.S. Route 61 Outer Roads in Lincoln County.

Work is expected to begin near the St. Charles County line on the southern-most section from John Creech Road to end of state maintenance. Once complete, operations will move north to the next section from Route U to end of state maintenance; this is tentatively scheduled for August 17.

As early as August 20, the third segment of outer road, located between Bueneman Lane and Route C in Moscow Mills, is scheduled to be milled in the late evening during non-peak traffic hours to alleviate congestion.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction in place at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized to direct motorists through the work zone. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

Once the Moscow Mills segment is complete, operations will pause on the remaining sections until tentatively late September. At that time, contractor crews will continue resurfacing operations on the following outer roads sections:

  • U.S. 61 Outer Road/Frenchmans Bluff Road - from 0.22 mile north of Missouri Route 47 to 0.6 mile south of Dugan Lane
  • U.S. 61 Outer Road/Dugan Lane - from 0.02 mile east to 0.3 mile of U.S. Route 61
  • U.S. 61 Outer Road/North Lincoln Drive - from just north of Estates Drive to 0.25 mile north of Woods Fort Drive
  • U.S. 61 Outer Road - from Route KK to end of state maintenance
  • U.S. 61 Outer Road - from just east of U.S. 61 to Route KK

The $686,2275 contract was awarded to Magruder Paving, LLC of Troy, Mo. All work is expected to be completed by November 2026.
